What should you do in case of overbooking by airlines?

Many a times, airlines overbook to minimise their losses. They then ask for volunteers to give up their seats; and if there aren’t enough, they off-load some passengers and provide compensations.

What should you do in case of overbooking?

  • Get in writing from the airlines.
  • Collect proof of any expenses incurred.

What are your rights?

  • You can receive a compensation to a maximum of £520
  • You can either get a ticket refund of first class flights to Melbourne or an alternative transportation
  • You are entitled to free food & refreshments.

Who receives the compensation?

In case you’re a business traveller, it’s you and not your employer who receives it. In case of package holidays also, you’ll receive compensation. The amount of compensation varies depending on the distance you were about to fly (not on the price of the ticket, even on low-cost airlines).

Check on in time

If you‘re informed about denial to board first class flights to Calgary beforehand, there’s no need to rush to the airport. But if you have already reached the airport on time but denied boarding; it’s wise to not leave the gate area immediately, in case you miss some sudden reschedule of first class flights to Sydney.

What if your flight was rebooked?

Flight rebooking happen mostly in package holidays. Either the flight time changes or passengers are booked on a completely different flight. In case, you reach later or even earlier, you’re eligible for compensation.

How do you know whether you are eligible for compensation and how much exactly?

The wisest decision is to allow agents (such as Business Flight Shop) who booked first class flights to Houston from UK or to elsewhere; to do it for you, as the process is quite complicated. That is the best chance of receiving your compensation in a hassle free manner.

Relax! They will calculate and get it done for you.
